Title - Dehradun hoteliers not happy with April – May Railway maintenance work

Doon valley thrive big on tourism especially during start of summer season and exactly it is the time when Railway announced construction and maintenance work on Dehradun Railway station thereby short terminating 16 important trains including new Delhi – Dehradun Shatabdi Express.

Trains including Shatabdi will be short terminated at Haridwar station from April 17 to May 22 to which Hoteliers express their big concerns over massive loss they can face. A representative of state hotelier’s association said “perhaps the worst time possible for the Railways to plan their work at Dehradun Railway station.”

From April 28, char dham yatra has to commence and it is this time when families plan vacation at hill stations during school holidays. Closure of railway station will cause great inconvenience to tourists and majority may plan to go somewhere else. Hotel association wants intervention from state government and tourism minister to postpone Railway’s construction and repair work.
