VADODARA: Railway traffic got affected as Dehradun Express derailed at near Godhra yard on Sunday morning in Panchmahal district.Two wheels of the engine of the 9019 Dehradun Express train derailed from the tracks while the train was entering Godhra railway yard.All passengers of the train were safe, but train movement on Godhra-Ratlam route got adversely affected due to the incident.Railway officials from the Vadodara railway division rushed an accident relief train to Godhra. "Two rear wheels of the engine had got derailed from the tracks. The engine was detached and now it has been kept at the Godhra railway yard under observation to know whether there was any defect which caused this derailment," senior divisional commercial manager (DCM) of Vadodara railway division Uday Shankar Jha told TOI. The derailment occurred around 8.30 am after which around four trains including Jammu Tawi to Bandra Terminus (Swaraj Express), Firozpur-Mumbai (Janata Express), Kota parcel and Paschim Express had got delayed, some for nearly three hours."After the derailment, we had stopped the up line movement of traffic. But normalcy has returned since 11.30 am," said Jha. |
