Protest by thousand of College students at India Gate, Vijay Chowk and near Rashtrapati Bhawan against the Gang rape of a girl will continue on Sunday as well. Arvind Kejriwal of Aam Aadmi Party with its other members will also be joining the protesters today. Fearing that the number of crowd may increase and things can go out of hand, government has blocked 7 metro stations near the place. No one will be allowed to board or de-board metro trains at these stations. 7 metro stations that have been blocked are: Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, Udyog Bhawan, Race Course, Barakhamba, Mandi House and Khan Market. Huge number of students and people gathered at Raisina Hill, India Gate on Saturday to protest peacefully against government demanding fast trial against the people accused of gang rape of a 23-year-old girl. But the protest became fierce when Delhi police and Rapid Action Force tried to spread them away by firing tear gas and water cannons. Lathi charge on female students was also carried out, which has triggered the anger among masses even more. Meanwhile at Safdurjung Hospital, the gang rape victim has recorded her statement before a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) and senior police officers. Deputy Commissioner of police Chhaya Sharma said, "The statement of her friend was read by a police officer in front of the SDM, which she corroborated". "She spoke slowly while replying to questions. We recorded her statement after getting clearance from doctors that she was fit to speak," she added. All the 6 accused have been arrested by the police. |
