NAGPUR: The Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto is all set to run daily when it leaves Nagpur station at 8.50 pm on Sunday. In case of Mumbai, the daily service began on Saturday when it left the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) at 8.15 pm.

The decision to run the train daily was taken following repeated demand to increase its frequency. "We are trying to provide the best possible service and making all sorts of arrangements to meet passengers growing demands," said Brijesh Dixit, divisional railway manager (DRM), Central Railway, Nagpur.

People have been favouring Duronto as it takes least time to reach the destination. The train's runtime from Nagpur to Mumbai is just 11 hours. The journey being overnight, passengers find it most comfortable. Due to the same reason there is no pantry car facility in the train.

"Study of the waiting list revealed that by running the Duronto daily we could accommodate the spill over of passengers. With each run, the Duronto increases the availability of berths by 1017," said Mukul Kumar, senior divisional commercial manager (Sr DCM), Central Railways, Nagpur.

In order to meet the growing number of tatkal ticket applications, the railways have also decided to add an additional bogie exclusively for tatkal tickets in Nagpur-Pune Garib Rath and Nagpur-Pune Express.

"As it is a premium service, when people apply for tatkal ticket, they expect that they will get a confirmed berth. This step is to meet this expectation. We have already attached an extra bogie to Sevagram Express and from July 1, the other two trains will follow suit," said Dixit. This system will run for 15 days on trial basis and then will be regularized according to the observations.
