Thane, Jun 3 (PTI) A survey for laying a new 168km railway line between Nashik and Dahanu Road will be completed soon, the Railway Board has informed. The board has given this information in response to a query filed by a local RTI activist Om Prakash Sharma. The Railway Board has said that technicalities and details of the project like its cost, the number and location of the stations would be known only once the survey is completed. Sharma said that the new railway route would change the lives of lakhs of tribals in both the districts. "The new railway line will not only improve the economy of the region, but will also help in improving the lives of tribals. This will also help tourism in the region," Sharma said. He expressed hope that the work gets completed before the Kumbh Mela, a mega event to be held in Trimbakeshwar near Nashik, which will be held in 2015. |
