Title - Cushioned seats in CR local, an instant hit

Cushioned seats, which were introduced in the second class compartments of locals on the Central Railway on an experimental basis, have already become an instant hit with commuters.
The CR authorities are mulling the idea of replicating the same in other second class compartments of the suburban locals.
The first train with cushioned seats in second class compartments was introduced on Wednesday.
The CR provided cushioned seats in the general and ladies compartment, and those reserved for the handicapped. “We have also provided mirrors, and hooks to hang bags, in the ladies compartments,” said a CR spokesperson.
According to the CR official, since they have received a positive response from the commuters, the authorities may consider replicating the idea in two more trains. The new seats in the second class compartments are similar to the ones in the first class compartment.
“By providing cushioned seats, the comfort level of commuters has improved,” said Pravin Kulkarni, a commuter.
Another commuter said that this feature should be extended to all trains. “If possible, it should also be introduced in the local trains running on the Western Railway line,” the commuter said.
However, this move has not gone down well with first class passengers as they claim that this has now blurred the earlier distinction between second class and first class travellers. “While the facilities are the same, first class passengers will unnecessarily be paying more,” a first-class traveller claimed.
