Chief Secretary Alok Kumar Jain chaired the meeting of Urban Development and PWD Departments in which Comprehensive Mobility Plan was presented and issues pertaining to constructions of fly overs, railway over bridges, ring roads and by-passes were discussed.Decision was also taken to construct alternative road at Rispana River from Vidhan Sabha to Nagal Helodrum and from ISBT to Cantt Road.Jain directed them to conduct the survey of the area at Rispana River and Bindal River through specialists. He asked them to explore the possibility of constructing these roads with private participation. The numbers of vehicles entering the city through Haridwar Road and Saharanpur Road was increasing.Traffic could be diverted from the outskirt of city to Chakrata Road or Mussoorie Road. He revealed that over-bridge at Mohakumpur Railway Crossing has been approved and its construction would provide some relief from traffic jams. He directed to construct elevated road from end of Mohakumpur Railway Over Bridge to Jogiwala Chowk in Y shape with service lane under it. An Amount of Rs2 crore would be provided from Special Plan Assistance (SPA) for this project to be constructed with the budget of 95 crore..Jain said that Rs70 crore each had been already sanctioned from SPA for construction of fly-overs at ISBT, Balliwala and railway over bridge at Bhandari Bagh. Grant would be provided for purchase of Uro-3 vehicles instead of Vikram. “This would, to some extent, control the pollution,” he said and added that for this Rs5 crore would be allocated to Urban Development Department from SPA. He said that Chakrata Road and Saharnpur Road would be connected by an alternative road. The vehicles coming from Saharanpur and heading towards Vikasnagar or Ponta Sahib would directly go from Clement Town without having to enter the city area. Similar way, vehicle going toward Mussoorie from Haridwar would take Jogiwala by-pass and reach Rajpur road. |
