District Congress Committee president K.C. Abu has criticised the leaders of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] for ganging up against M.K. Raghavan, MP, at a press conference on Monday. He alleged that they were scared of the public support of the MP, which was similar to that enjoyed by the slain Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader T.P. Chandrasekharan. In a press release here on Tuesday, Mr. Abu said the allegations of the former Industries Minister Elamaram Karim against Mr. Raghavan were an attempt to cover up the incapability of the Left Democratic Front-led city Corporation. He spoke of the alleged corruption in the Medical College bus-stand project in response to Mr. Karim’s and MLA A. Pradeep Kumar’s mention of the Railway station development project being promoted by the MP.He said a Vigilance inquiry was on against the Corporation in 44 cases of corruption.Mr. Abu said Mr. Raghavan was a model of how an MP should function. |
