Title - CPI (M) cadres for early operation of train service

Demanding the early operation of Tenkasi – Tirunelveli passenger train service on the broad gauge, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) functionaries observed fast at Tenkasi for the second day today on Tuesday.The protestors said the public, especially the traders and the students going to Tirunelveli everyday, were struggling a lot after the Tenkasi – Tirunelveli train service was stopped in the wake of the gauge conversion.Though the exercise had been completed on an outlay of Rs. 220 crore, the train service was yet to be revived for reasons best known to the railway officials.

Allot coaches
If non-availability of coaches for Tenkasi – Tirunelveli passenger train was the reason behind the delay in resuming the operation, the Southern Railway should take immediate steps for getting the coaches and allot it to the much-awaited service.Former MLA Noor Mohamed inaugurated the fast on Monday and the district secretary of the party, Bhaskaran, presided over the relay fast, which is likely to continue till the train service resumes.
