Title - Cool rides in Mumbai will start from 2020

Railway board has given green signal to fully air conditioned coaches for sub-urban trains. The announcement was made in a meeting between Suresh Prabhu and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis.

Under MUTP III plan 47 rakes will be seen on the tracks between 2020 and 2034. For this plan state and central government has formed a joint venture and state government will procure AC rakes under the agreement.

Apart from this announcement of projects worth rupees 1.36lakh was also made. In the meeting senior officials also presented their ideas and reasons behind delay in rail projects.

Encroachment came out as the biggest hurdle in completion of several rail projects. Earlier funds were also a problem but currently there is no fund related problem.

The aim is to improve Mumbai’s suburban railway system said a railway official.
