On a trial basis, the Northern Railway has introduced a global positioning system-based passenger information and public address system on a New Delhi-Ghaziabad ladies' special train. The new system will display the name of station, direction of platform, current time, safety-related information and the next halt station. The system will also provide audio announcement of such messages through speakers in the coaches. The system can be further used for displaying welcome and farewell messages, playing music and passing any message in case of emergencies such as fire cases or hoax calls. "We have installed an LED-based display board, a GPS-based information and public address system on 64449/64450 Ghaziabad-New Delhi ladies' special train as a pilot project," he added.
