Title - Chennai Egmore to Tambaram from Steam loco

Railway is planning a heritage ride from Egmore to Kodambakkam or Tambaram. A few weeks from today you can take a trip down to memory lane. The train will be hauled by EIR - 21, the oldest working steam locomotive in the country.

Just before onset of summer vacation, railway will run steam loco with two coaches with a carrying capacity of about 20 passengers each. Ticket prices are likely to around Rs 600 for children and Rs 750 for adults. However an official announcement about ticket prices is yet to be made. 

Railway Board chairman Ashwani Lohani has taken up the initiative and directed railway zones to run heritage trains with steam locos.

Earlier Southern Railway has already announced a package for the Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) between Mettupalayam and Coonoor on weekends.a
