The proposed 168-km Dahanu-Nashik railway line is completed and the report is under finalisation, a communique from the Central Railway said here today.Talking to mediapersons here, the National Council Member of the BJP Om Prakash Sharma, said just undertaking the survey of the routes with no result was of no use as such.The things have been going on since several years and the citizens suffer and hence the Railways should act fast, he demanded.Besides, the Central Railway has undertaken survey and initiated action on other rail routes for which it has earmarked an expenditure of Rs 8.56 crore.In reply to a query under RTI by Mr Sharma, the Central Railway General Managers office has stated that in the last five years the CR had undertaken work on doubling and new lines on seven routes.The line includes 5th and 6th Line between Kurla-Thane and Diva-Kalyan,Thane-Vashi and Turbhe-Nerul Double Lines, Panvel-Apta Doubling,Puntamba-Shirdi New line, Badnera-Narkher New Line and Badnera Chord Line, Miraj- Latur Guage conversion and Latur-Latur Road New Line and Amravati-Narkhed New BG Line.The report regarding the gauge conversion on the preliminary engineering cum traffic survey report for the conversion NG to BG of Achalpur-Mutjapur- yavatmal and Pulgaon-Arvi 225 kms at the project cost of Rs 1553.16 crore has been submitted to the Railway board and it was under the boards consideration. |
