Title - Central Railway approves all necessary clearance for SCLR project

MUMBAI: Central Railway has claimed that it has granted requisite clearances that will aide faster execution of much-delayed Santacruz-Chembur Link Road project CR clearance is necessary as the bridge will criss-cross above main and harbour tracks in between Kurla and Chembur.

A senior CR official said, "The state government agencies will now not have any reason to blame us for any further delay in execution of project. We have approved the drawing/design and also agreed to provide blocks to undertake work along the railway tracks."

The world bank funded project has been hit by delays due to disputes on the issue of rehabilitation of Project Affected People and frequent changes in design because of objections from railways. The total length of th e bridge above the Kurla railway tracks is 62 meter. The six-lane road will have the city's first double-deck bridge. The deadline now for completion of the project is June 2013. The total length of this proposed road is 6.45 km from Western Express Highway (WEH) to Eastern Express Highway (EEH) and it starts at Dr Hans Burga junction on WEH before Vakola junction in Santacruz (E) and runs to the east skirting Vidyanagari campus (Mumbai University at Kalina) on its west, crosses Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Marg and joins near Amar Mahal Junction on EEH.
