East Central Railway's Dhanbad division is chugging towards being an exemplary employer. Around 1,200 Group C and Group D employees or their wards will stand to benefit from a largesse amounting to around Rs 60 lakh. Divisional railway manager Sudhir Kumar will distribute cheques at the DRM's office in Dhanbad on April 28. The aid will be given from the staff benefit fund under heads of health and education. While Rs 11 lakh will be given for health, Rs 49 lakh will be spent on education. Under health, 304 employees or their wards suffering from cancer, liver ailment, tuberculosis and other serious diseases will be given varying sums according to their needs. Aid for higher education ' graduation and above ' will be given to 179 wards of Group D employees. Separately, financial help will also be given for professional education ' medical, engineering and management ' of wards of 546 employees. "Deserving cases are selected after scrutiny of applications," assistant personnel officer (ECR Dhanbad division) J.P. Singh said. While money for treatment will vary according to need, education stipends will be from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,200 a month or a one-time payment ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000. |
