The campaign against graft by observing transparency was underlined at separate meetings held by Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, Dredging Corporation of India and Railways in connection with Vigilance Awareness Week on Thursday.At a meeting conducted at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, a lecture was delivered on ‘Fraud and risks in current environment’ by Sandeep Baldava, Partner & Leader (South), Fraud Investigation & Dispute Services, Ernest & Young (P) Ltd. He called for better vigilance as frauds were committed systematically by using the latest computer technology. Mr. Sandeep cited several examples and case studies to explain how frauds were committed by individuals and organisations amassing thousands of crores of rupees in the current environment. At a lecture conducted by DCI on e-procurement, Technical Director, National Informatics Centre M. Manivannan spoke on importance of transparency and fairness in public procurement. He said the conventional manual tendering system had several drawbacks and give scope for allegations of corruption from several quarters. He said importance of proper integration of both e-procurement and manual tender procedures should be done by all the corporate institutes. |
