The Sadbhavna Express was stopped for 40 minutes at Ghaziabad Junction railway station on Tuesday due to a bomb scare. An unknown person called up the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and said there was a bomb on the train, which runs between Delhi and Muzaffarpur.RPF officials said the call was a hoax. They had checked the train and followed the standard operating procedure for such situations. They also checked everyone entering and exiting the station.Senior officials said investigations were on to identify the caller.Officials of the Ghaziabad Railway Police said a phone call was received by the Hapur control room which said there was a bomb on the train.“The train was then stopped at the station between 4.55 pm and 5.35 pm, but nothing was found. Fifty security personnel from the GRP, RPF, local policemen and a dog squad were involved in the operation. The train was then given clearance to complete its journey to Muzaffarpur. There was no disturbance in the schedules of other trains,” senior officials of the Northern Railways said. The development saw people at the railway station being thoroughly screened for those 40 minutes.“Security was tightened, and entry points were closed temporarily. The personnel got on the train and asked people to check their bags. The passengers on the train were not asked to alight. One of the main focuses of the standard operating procedure is not to spread panic,” an official said. |
