A mix-up due to a similarity in look of two bags led a passenger from Tiruchi to lose 25 sovereigns of gold in the Chennai-Trivandrum Ananthapuri Express on Tuesday. However, the passenger, who had got down from the train at Virudhunagar after inadvertently lifting the bag of the neighbouring passenger, walked into the Railway Protection Force station here and handed over the valuables. The RPF Inspector, K. Vasanth Kumar, said that T. Sivakumar of Tiruchi, who was travelling in a sleeper class coach along with his wife, realised that his bag was missing, but found another bag of similar look left unattended. On reaching Nagercoil, he made a complaint with the RPF there.Meanwhile, A. Kumar of Vriddhachalam, who had come to Virudhunagar for a marriage, handed over the bag along with valuables at the RPF station. Both the passengers had travelled in the same bay and both the bags were left under the lower berth, the Inspector said. |
