Title - Automatic door locking soon in Rajdhani and Shatabdi

Railway is planning to fit automatic door locking mechanism soon. This will help n enhancing passenger safety and curb criminal activities. With the new system in place all doors will automatically close before departure of train and will automatically open during arrival; however guard can fully control the system on its own.

Current structure of coaches allow anyone to open doors manually. Also many incident occur when passengers try to boar or de board train while train is on the move.

As a pilot project, railway will operate two Rajdhani and two Shatabdi equipped with automatic door locking system from April. Later in a phased manner this system will be incorporated in all other trains including suburban trains across the country .
