The Chief Judicial Magistrate Court at Ottapalam on Wednesday remanded the Superintendent of the Trivandrum-Nizamudeen Rajadhani Express and a TTE to 14 days in judicial custody for assaulting two business partners and the police at the Shoranur railway station in the early hours of Wednesday.The Palakkad Railway Division officials said a report had been sent to the Northern Railway for taking action against the Train Superintendent and TTE as they came under the jurisdiction of the Northern Railway.The train was detained at Shoranur station for more than an hour following the incident, Palakkad Division officials here said.Train Superintendent, Lohit Singh, 59, and TTE Surender Singh Punia, 38, were arrested by the Shoranur Railway Police on a complaint of assault filed by the victims who were travelling from Ernakulam to Nizamudeen.They told the Shoranur police that the Train Superintendent and TTE had demanded money for allotting them berths. They demanded a receipt from the railway officials. This led to an altercation. |
