Title - Assam Times - Hill Queen Passengers injured

At least eight passengers including five women of Lumding bound Hill Queen train were injured when the lead engine rammed with the standing train at Lower Haflong on Friday. The injured persons were given first aid and seriously injured persons were sent to Haflong Civil Hospital. They were identified as Sahabuddin, Silpi Dey, Ankur Ahmed, Jaysanan Phonglo,Sangita Ardao, Thaijola Haflongbar, Maitri Naiding and Puja Balmiki. Condition of Sangita Ardao is stated to be critical.

It is learnt that the Hill Queen runs between Lumding- Lower Haflong vis-a-vis reached lower Haflong at about 1.45 PM after few minutes the train was to return to Lumding and accordingly the lead engine was to be attached to the train. During the attachment the engine rammed the train with high speed injuring five passengers of the train. A preliminary enquiry is initiated to find out the cause of such accident.

Meanwhile, the driver Swapan Ch Dey was put under suspension by Railway authority.
