Despite playing a spirited game and enjoying distinct territorial supremacy throughout the course, the policemen went down 0-1.

Chayaram Basumatary became hero of the match, hitting the target in the 20th minute anticipating a pass from skipper Dipak Ghatowar. Barring this goal, the railwaymen hardy applied themselves in the match.

The Police team paid the penalty for not sharpening their goal-shooting skills. They squandered at least five opportunities from which goals could have been scored.

Rajen Zoya, Joseph Maslai, Lohit Taye, Kajaigek Rongmei, Manoj Boro and Sarbananda Sonowal were the Police Blues players who let their team down. All the players were off target from close range.

The whole Police team today was in an aggressive mood from the kick off onwards and forced the opponents to fight with their backs to the wall. Credit should be give to Railway custodian K Bijen Singh and defenders for keeping their fort intact.

For Railway, Sibra Narzary, Jilendra Brahma and Chayaram tried to get their act together and combined with midfielders Sankar Sil and Bapa Biswas to initiate some moves.

With today’s victory, the railwaymen collected 13 points from five matches. On the other hand, it was Police’s third defeat in five outings and are placed at the bottom with just two points.
