GUWAHATI, The Assam government is planning to run a third special train to Bangalore Sep 20 to facilitate the return of those who had fled Bangalore and some other south Indian cities last month after rumours of attacks on people from the northeast.The decision was taken at a review meeting by Assam Chief Secretary Naba Kumar Das Thursday, a statement issued by the Assam government said Friday while adding that the state government will pay the cost of train tickets for those who are willing to return.Chief Public Relations Officer of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), S.Hajong also confirmed that development and said that the railway will notify the special train on due time.The Assam government had also directed the Transport Secretary to issue instructions to all the Deputy Commissioners (DC) in the state to register the details of the people who inquire about the special train Sep 20 through the helpline created by the state government.On receipt of the details of the people from the DCs, the Transport Secretary will inform the NFR authorities for making necessary arrangements for these people.The state government will pay money for purchasing the tickets of the special train scheduled on Sep 20 to the NFR Railway by way of account transfer, the statement said.While the first special train to Bangalore left Guwahati Sep 1, the second special will leave for Bangalore from Guwahati railway station Saturday (Sep 8) at 1.15 p.m. |
