Protesting the police action against him, hundreds of supporters of self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, who was recently arrested by Rajasthan police over a rape charge by a minor, blocked the railway near Subhash Nagar railway crossing here on Thrusday.

Meanwhile, police have round up at least 23 supporters including 10 women of the Asaram after they blocked Amarkantak Express train and would be produced in the court on Friday, told the RPF Commandant of Bhopal Rail Division Vijay Khatarkar

Aishbagh police intervened to pacify the protestors and removed supporters forcefully from the spot.

Police said while dozens of Asaram supporters had targeted the Bhopal-Durg Amarkantak train to stage protest and few of them boarded at Bhopal station and pulled chain to stop it at the Subhash Nagar railway crossing where the other supporters were waiting to stage protest.

The protest led to the disruption of rail traffic which delayed trains by 40-50 minutes and few of the trains were stationed at Bhopal and Habibganj stations.

The police used mild force to disperse the crowd that was present on the railway tracks demanding the release of Asaram.

Railway authorities have claimed that the aggressive supporters were not willing to let the train pass and were removed by the police and Railway Police Force which delayed the train by around 40-45 minutes.

A case has been registered at Railway Protection Force (RPF) police station under Section 141, 137, 147, 145 and 174 of Railway Act.
