Alappuzha Railway Police has arrested a person for thefts he had committed in trains in different parts of the State and outside. The Railway police has identified the arrested person as Rajesh alias Sivan Pillai (32) of Chittattu house in Kuruppampadi near Perumbavoor. He was arrested in a case of theft of seven sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs. 17,000 in Bangalore-Thiruvananthapuram express at Coimbatore. Police said that the arrested person used to steal Nokia and Samsung brands of mobile phones and bags of the passengers. He had committed several thefts in Thrissur, Ernakulam, Kottayam and Alappuzha districts. The police who searched his current residence at Varkala near Thiruvananthapuram found a room full of bags stolen from train passengers. |
