Hoping to return home early this Deepavali, engineering student Rakesh Mohan arrived at Park Station all smiles. His happiness lasted till the moment he entered the passengers' waiting area at Chennai Central.He was informed that the Howrah-bound Coromandel Express he planned to travel in was delayed indefinitely. Nearly after an hour, passengers were informed that they would have to wait for 15 hours to board the train delayed owing to floods in Andhra Pradesh.Coromandel Express (12842) was rescheduled to 11.15pm, against the original 8.45am. Rail authorities told DC that the departure would be delayed further by an hour.Train No.12840 (Chennai Central - Howrah Mail) scheduled to leave Chennai Central at 11.40pm Monday was rescheduled to leave at 7am on November 6. Train No: 12841 (Howrah - Chennai Central Express) scheduled to leave Howrah at 2.50pm this noon has been rescheduled to leave at 4am on November 6. Train No: 12665 (Howrah - Kanyakumari Express via Chennai Central) scheduled to leave Howrah at 4.10pm Monday was rescheduled to leave at 5.30am on November 6 and it would arrive late at Kanyakumari. Confusion prevailed at Central station for a while as a flurry of passengers were clueless about the train delay. |
