City-based HBL Power Systems Limited that pioneered the development of an indigenous ‘Train Collision Avoidance System’ (TCAS) said the device was ready for extended trials on the Indian Railways after a series of lab simulation and two phases of field trials recently proved successful.After it was developed and lab simulation trials done, the Chairman, Railway Board, Vinay Mittal, Director-General, Research, Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO) of the railways and others witnessed the trials. The test near Tandur saw locomotives hurtle towards each other at a speed on the same track and come to a halt just 750 metres from each other. The system was said to be ready for extended trials. |
