Title - All railway coaches to be equipped with bio - toilets by 2018

100 percent completion target of bio - toilet installation in railway coaches for Indian Railway is December 2018. This date was announced in an event called "Indian Transport Sector: Marching towards sustainable mobility" in Germany.

In the event Railway is promoting sustainable mobility besides highlighting innovative steps taken by Indian Railways to cut down carbon emission. 50 international and national eminent speakers and industry representatives took part in the event.

The event started with an Audio-Visual film on Indian Railways showcasing key low carbon transport initiatives being taken by Indian Railways such as Electrification, Energy Efficiency initiatives, renewable energy deployment etc.
