Science Express, a mobile exhibition on a 16-coach, air-conditioned train, travelling across the country since October 2007, will reach the capital on Monday on an eight-day visit to the State.

Divisional Railway Manager Rajesh Agrawal will inaugurate the show to which entry is free. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The train will be at platform 16.

After the successful tour of the country in four phases, the train now runs as ‘Science Express — Biodiversity Special (SEBS),’ a collaborative initiative of the Department of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Environment and Forests.

The SEBS 2013 edition is scheduled to travel to 62 locations till October 28 (It had started on April 9).

As 2011-20 has been declared as the United Nations Decade on Biodiversity and United Nations Decade for Deserts and Fight Against Desertification, the ‘Science Express’ focuses on the ‘biodiversity’ theme. Science Express’ primary targets are teachers and students. There is a facility to arrange training sessions for teachers and group activities for schoolchildren who register in groups of 25 in advance.
