Central Railways (CR) services are set to be back on track from Monday, as per a statement issued by railway officials. The services had been hit following a fire in a signalling cabin between Kurla and Vidyavihar stations on Wednesday.CR public relations officer Vidyadhar Malegaonkar said the trains would run as per usual time from Monday morning. “The work on the damaged signals had been rectified on Saturday evening itself. The services will return to normal from Monday.” On being asked if any initiatives were taken to ascertain the cause of fire, Malegaonkar said, “We have set up a three-member committee to look into the cause of fire. The committee will be asked to submit their recommendations in order to ensure that such a disruption does not occur in future,” he said.Several commuters were inconvenienced following the fire, resulting in cancellation and rescheduling of many trains. It had led to overcrowding and traffic jams in the suburban areas. The overcrowding of trains had led to two deaths and left over 20 injured. |
