In a bid to offer more choice of food to passengers, Nagpur Central Railway became the first division to introduce Veg Biryani at Rs. 42. A 42-rupees ‘Veg Biryani’ will include 200gm of rice, 100 gm of vegetable and rest 100gm will comprise gravy. During Swachh Ahaar Day, there was rigorous monitoring of every type food and catering services across the division at all railway stations. Even passing by train’s pantry car were inspected including food stalls. Once the inspection was complete, senior officials of Nagpur Central Railway made the announcement. This is for the first time railway has included Veg-Biryani in its menu. It was also confirmed that “Non-Veg Biryani” will soon follow. Few years back under a similar scheme ‘Janta Khaana’ was introduced by railway at Rs. 15. It went on to become a popular choice of passengers specially travelling in general and sleeper class. Currently Railway sells food and snacks through stalls on platforms. |
