Kochi : As part of its initiative to engage stakeholders in the design and development of the Kochi Metro Rail Project, a meeting was held by Kochi Metro Rail Limited with various local civil society organisations. The meeting, among other things, also discussed necessity of rebuilding South Railway Overbridge and a few other bridges and roads, optimal usage of water transport options and the need of time-bound and stretch-wise completion of the project. Representatives of public forums, who participated in the meeting here yesterday, expressed happiness about KMRLs ingenuity to ensure stakeholder participation and assured their whole-hearted support for the project. They also conveyed their appreciation to KMRL for the timely completion of the preparatory works and the superior quality it has ensured for the roads that are reconstructed. The suggestion to rebuild the South ROB was also put forth by the participants of the meeting as once the Metro Rail lines are completed in this area, South ROB can never be reconstructed. KMRL Managing Director Tom Jose expressed his willingess to take up the issue with the bodies concerned. It was decided to convene a meeting with civil society representatives once in every two months to discuss the project's development and seek ways to minimize the problems and difficulties people might come across during its implementation, an official release said today. |
