Indian railways introducing infotainment system on board while traveling

In a move to improve its service, Indian railways are gearing up to introduce infotainment on board. Indian railways PSU Railtel has taken up the project to introduce the service, accessible through smartphone or laptop of the passenger.

Companies like Hungama Digital Media Entertainment, Zee Entertainment, Saregama India Ltd. have already shown their interest. Railways see it as a good source to generate revenue besides improving its service offered for passengers. Initially, the infotainment products will be introduced in three categories – premium, nominal and free; which passengers can enjoy on their smartphone or laptop via intranet.
