Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala defeated Customs Chennai 2-1 in a quarte­­r­fial of the Tamil Nadu Football Asociation Shield at the Ne­­hru Stadium here on Tuesday.It was Customs who ope­n­ed account through Ramesh in­ the 8th minute. And when th­­ings looked like favouring the local side, RCF struck ba­­c­k  Gurprteet (76) and Amr­i­n­d­er (80) to post a well dese­­r­ved victory. In another ma­t­c­h, Kerala Police defeated So­­­uthern Railway 2-0.Results: RCF Kapurthala 2 (Gurpreet Singh 76; Amrinder Singh 80) bt Customs 1 (Ramesh 8).  Kerala Police 2 (Jipson 14; Nazarudeen 44) bt Southern Railway 0.

Combined Dts Win
MAM Ganesh’s 78 enabled City to post 258 against Combined Districts in the drawn m­atch of  the Under-19 City vs­­ Combined Districts (Retu­r­n match) for the RT Part­h­a­s­arathy Trophy held  at VB Nest grounds. Combined Districts were declared winners by virtue of their slender 6-r­­u­n lead over City.
Brief scores: At VB Nest: Combined Districts 264 in 130.5 overs and 32-2 in 12 overs drew with City 258 in 97.5 overs (MAM Ganesh 78, S Selva 35, R Jayachandran 45, L Sathya Naarayanan 36, Prahalad 3-42)

Lokeshwar, Sundar hit Centuries

Centuries by S Lokeshwar (115) and Washington Sundar en­­abled City I to gain a lead of ­75 runs  against Districts I in the drawn match of the TN­CA Round Robin Under-16 To­­urnament. City I were adju­d­ged winner by virtue of their first innings lead.

Brief scores: Districts I 245 for 8 in 90 overs and 81-7 in 20 overs (Anton Andrew 4-55) drew with City I  320-4 in 90 overs (S Lokeshwar 115, MS Washington

Sundar 104, P Krishna 53 no).

Districts II 196-9 in 90 overs drew with City IV 151 in 56.4 overs (PS Raghul 29, Daryl S  Ferrario 55, S Pravahan 5-58).

St. Joseph’s  Sports Scholarship

St. Joseph’s College of Engine­­e­r­ing awarded Sports scholarship to over 72 students worth ` 3.9 crores on Tuesday at its c­ollege. This is the 10th conse­­cutive ­year that the college has been awarding scholarships to deserving sportsmen.

More than 100 students got Ist year & 2nd year lateral entry admissions for B.E/ B.Tech/ MBA/ MCA / M.E/ MSC CT based on their perfo­­r­­­mance under Sports quota . K Shankar, Chairman, Indian Pr­­ofessional Football League re­­feree committee and Dr Ba­b­u Manoharan, Director St Jo­seph’s CoE distributed the Sp­orts scholarship.
