A huge number of irked passengers staged a demonstration on Monday morning at Indore railway station over the disruption in railway traffic. The Bhopal Intercity Express stopped without notice two-Km before Maksi station somewhere at the isolated place after Panthpiplai station around 8 pm.

The protest highlighted the carelessness of the railways. Prakash Chavan of Indore Rail Commuters organisation said, "The recent loot on a special train run by the Indian Catering and Railway Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) on its way from Nepal to Indore was the main point of the demostration. The incident of Indore-Bhopal intercity express acted as a catalyst".

The Bhopal Intercity Express stopped without notice two-Km before Maksi station somewhere at the isolated place after Panthpiplai station around 8 pm. The electricity backup failed and the passengers aboard the train remained stranded for nearly 2-hours without power leading to suffocation in the AC Coaches.

The passengers believed that the train stopped at the outer waiting for signal. But later, it came to know that there was a fault in the engine. Railway mechanics arrived at 10 pm. The cattle guard had encountered problem and the train could be started by 10.40 pm. The scheduled arrival of this train at Indore railway station was 9.30 pm but it arrived at 12.10 pm.
