Title - MINISTER FOR RAILWAYS FLAGS OFF DOUBLE DECKER TRAIN SERVICES FROM DELHI SARAI ROHILLA TO JAIPUR TODA

Hon’ble Minister for Railways Shri Mukul Roy commenced services of the much awaited Double-Decker air-conditioned train by flagging off the inaugural train from Delhi Sarai Rohilla to Jaipur at a ceremony held at Delhi Sarai Rohilla station this evening. Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Sheila Dikshit was the Chief Guest on the occasion.Sh. K.H. Muniyappa, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways, Government of India, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways, Government of India were the distinguished Guests on the occasion. Hon’ble Mayor, M.C.D. Smt. Meera Aggarwal, Hon’ble M.L.A., Govt. of Delhi, Sh. Rajesh Jain, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly. Govt. of Delhi, Hon’ble Councillors, Municipal Corporation Delhi, Sh. Satbir Sharma & Sh. Ravinder Gupta were the guests of honour on the occasion.



Extending his congratulations to the Railway officers and staff of Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala for their ingenuity in the design of the Double Decker coach, Shri Mukul Roy announced a group award of Rs. 5 lakhs to RCF/Kapurthala.

The 12986 Delhi Sarai Rohilla-Jaipur Double Decker AC train will depart from Delhi Sarai Rohilla daily at 05.35 p.m. to reach Jaipur at 10.05 p.m. the same day. In the return direction, commencing regular services from 25.8.2012, the 12985 Jaipur- Delhi Sarai Rohilla Double Decker AC will depart from Jaipur daily at 06.00 a.m. to reach Delhi Sarai Rohilla at 10.30 a.m. the same day. Comprising eight AC chair car coaches and two power cars, the 12985/12986 Double Decker AC train services will stop for 2 minutes each at Delhi Cantt., Gurgaon and Gandhi Nagar Jaipur stations enroute in both directions.



Double Decker train services were available on Indian Railways since 1975. However, as there were certain problems in these services, despite their passenger carrying capacity, the Double Decker trains were not enhanced.In the year 2009 the then Railway Minister Ms Mamata Banerjee revived the Double Decker services with the new concept of air-conditioned coaches while introducing the Railway Budget for the year.In the year 2011 the first air-conditioned Double Decker service commenced service between Howrah and Dhanbad which was found to be satisfactory. The Double Decker coach has been designed by the Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala. The design of the Double Decker coaches was a mighty challenge for the Railways as the entire Rail network and coach designs are designed to meet precise standard dimensions in length, breadth and height of the railway structures viz. bridges, OHE, tunnels etc. The Double Decker coaches are designed to accommodate 120 passengers as against the carrying capacity of 78 passengers in the existing chair cars of Shatabdis. The coaches are made of stainless steel thus reducing the weight of the coaches which in turn has resulted in lesser fuel requirement for hauling the train. In keeping with the safety of the services, the coaches are designed with anti-climbing technology and have crash-worthy shells. Through theinbuilt air springs in these coaches, passengers can derive greater ease and comfortable in travel.

रेलमंत्री ने दिल्ली सराय रोहिल्ला-जयपुर के बीच डबल डेकर रेल सेवा को झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया

माननीय रेलमंत्री, श्री मुकुल रॉय ने आज शाम दिल्ली सराय रोहिल्ला रेलवे स्टेशन पर आयोजित एक समारोह में बहुप्रतीक्षित डबल डेकर वातानुकूलित रेलगाड़ी की दिल्ली सराय रोहिल्ला-जयपुर सेवा को झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया । इस अवसर पर माननीया मुख्यमंत्री, दिल्ली सरकार, श्रीमती शीला दीक्षित मुख्य अतिथि व माननीय रेल राज्यमंत्री श्री के0 एच0 मुनियप्पा विशिष्ट अतिथि थे । माननीय महापौर, नगर निगम, उत्तरी दिल्ली, सुश्री मीरा अग्रवाल, माननीय विधायक, दिल्ली सरकार, श्री राजेश जैन, माननीय निगम पार्षदगण, दिल्ली, श्री सतबीर शर्मा व श्री रविन्द्र गुप्ता सम्मानित अतिथि थे ।

कपूरथला रेल डिब्बा कारखाना के कर्मचारियों और अधिकारियों को शुभकामनाएँ देते हुए श्री मुकुल रॉय ने कारखाने को 5 लाख रुपए का सामूहिक पुरस्कार देने की भी घोषणा की ।

12986 दिल्ली सराय रोहिल्ला-जयपुर डबल डेकर वातानुकूलित रेलगाड़ी दिल्ली सराय रोहिल्ला से प्रतिदिन शाम 5.35 बजे प्रस्थान करके उसी दिन रात्रि 10.05 बजे जयपुर पहुंचेगी । वापसी दिशा में दिनांक 25-08-2012 से नियमित सेवा के रूप में 12985 जयपुर-दिल्ली सराय रोहिल्ला डबल डेकर वातानुकूलित रेलगाड़ी जयपुर से प्रतिदिन सुबह 6.00 बजे प्रस्थान करके उसी दिन सुबह 10.30 बजे दिल्ली सराय रोहिल्ला पहुंचेगी । आठ वातानुकूलित कुर्सीयान वाली यह रेलगाड़ी मार्ग में दिल्ली छावनी, गुड़गांव और गांधीनगर जयपुर स्टेशनों पर दो-दो मिनट के लिए दोनों दिशाओं में ठहरेगी ।

डबल डेकर रेल सेवाएं वर्ष,1975 से भारतीय रेलवे में उपलब्ध हैं तथापि इनकी यात्री वहन क्षमता के बावजूद कुछ ऐसी समस्याएं थीं जिनके कारण डबल डेकर रेलगाड़ी की सेवाओं में वृद्धि नहीं की गई । वर्ष,2009 में तत्कालीन रेलमंत्री सुश्री ममता बनर्जी ने उस वर्ष का रेल बजट प्रस्तुत करते समय नए ढ़ंग के वातानुकूलित डिब्बो वाली नई डबल डेकर रेलगाड़ी चलाने की घोषणा की । वर्ष,2011 में पहली वातानुकूलित डबल डेकर रेलगाड़ी हावड़ा और धनबाद के बीच शुरू की गई जो संतोषजनक रही । वातानुकूलित डबल डेकर डिब्बों का डिजाइन रेल डिब्बाकारखाना, कपूरथला द्वारा बनाया गया । डबल डेकर डिब्बों का डिजाइन तैयार करना रेलवे के लिए एक बड़ी चुनौती थी क्योंकि इनको डिजाइन करते समय समूचे रेल नेटवर्क के विविध मानक आयामों, जैसे लम्बाई, चौड़ाई और ऊंचाई, जिनमें रेलपुल, उपरि उपस्कर और सुरंगें इत्यादि शामिल हैं, का पूरा ध्यान रखा जाना था । डबल डेकर डिब्बों में शताब्दी रेलगाड़ियों के कुर्सीयान में 78 यात्रियों की तुलना में 120 यात्रियों के बैठने की सुविधा है । ये डिब्बे स्टेनलेस स्टील से बनने के कारण भार में हल्के हैं जिससे इनको खींचने में ईंधन की भी कम खपत होती है । इस सेवा में संरक्षा के मद्देनज़र एण्टी क्लाइम्बिंग तकनीक का इस्तेमाल किया गया है। इन डिब्बों में लगे इन-बिल्ट-एयर-स्प्रिंग्स के कारण रेलयात्रियों की यात्रा सुखद और अरामदायक हो जाती है ।
