Title - Loco pilots, workshop employees list demands

Members of the South Western Railway (SWR) branch of the All-India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) staged a protest here on Wednesday to press for their demands.Gathering outside the office of the General Manager of SWR, they sought implementation of suggestions made by the Railway Board at the meeting on SPAD (Signal Passed at Danger) held in New Delhi on June 12.They sought implementation of some of the prominent suggestions made at the meeting, such as limiting working hours of mail/express train crew to six hours; reduction of continuous night duties; revision of crew link; change of crew at divisional jurisdiction; preparation time of two hours at headquarters and outstations; and calendar day rest (40 hours).

NRMS protest

Members of the Nairutya Railway Mazdoor Sangh belonging to the central office, workshop (mechanical and electrical) and store branches also staged a protest outside the rail carriage workshop on Gadag Road to press for their demands.In a memorandum addressed to SWR General Manager, they demanded that the Railway authorities fix improved grade pay of Rs. 3,200; allot new quarters to the workshop pool and maintain them; scrap the new pension scheme and follow the old scheme; merge 50 per cent dearness allowance with basic pay; and abolish ceiling limit on PL bonus.
