Title - Inspection of cracker units

The Uttar Pradesh Government will launch an inspection drive this month to curb accidents occurring in fire cracker manufacturing units located in populated areas.Secretary (Home) Subhash Chandra Sharma on Thursday said the government has directed all district magistrates and police chiefs to inspect such licensed cracker manufacturing units and shops between September 15-30.Cooperation of the transport and railway departments has also been sought at their level, he said. The concerned DM and SSP would examine the units to assess whether their location in densely populated areas, and those near educational institutions or religious places, poses any danger. - P
