Says all-party stir will be launched Strong protests were voiced at a convention organised on Wednesday here by groups opposed to the proposed high-speed railway corridor.A spokesman for the “people’s committee,” formed by three groups to protest against the railway corridor project, claimed the convention was attended by representatives of residents in Thondayad, Kodamulikunnu, Nellicode, and Kadilthode. The convention, held at the Chitranjali auditorium, was inaugurated by Mayor A.K. Premajam. Representatives of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party, and Kerala Sastra Sahithya Parishad condemned the proposed project and said that there would be an all-party agitation if the government decided to ignore protests and implement the project.A resolution demanding disbanding of the high-speed railway corporation formed to implement the project was adopted.M.S. Kirandas, secretary, and K.C. Jayaraj, people’s committee member, spoke.
