The State Forensic Science Laboratory here submitted its report on forensic evidence of the fire that engulfed the S 11 coach of Tamil Nadu Express near Nellore railway station, which resulted in the death of about 35 passengers on July 30.

The report was being studied by the DSP of Railway Police at Nellore, who is the investigating officer of the tragedy, said the Additional Director General of Railway Police V.S.K. Kaumudi.

He added that the forensic finding was only an input to the final analysis based on the report of the Commissioner of Railway Safety and circumstantial evidence, including that of public.

Sources say that the forensic report cited movement of inflammable material as the cause of the incident. The finding went against the suspicion earlier that a short-circuit in the coach could have resulted in the tragedy. The report has not yet identified the cause for the spread of fire, they added.
