Title - Defence Ministry to get 25 acres at Jawaharnagar

Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew heading the Special Task Force (STF) on the Hyderabad Metro Rail project has directed the Ranga Reddy Collector to handover 25 acres of land at Jawaharnagar to the Defence Ministry authorities here so that three acres of its land can be taken over for the project at Secunderabad.The Special Task Force consisting of top officials of various departments met on Wednesday and oversaw a presentation made by Hyderabad Metro Rail Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy on the progress of the project.Later, Ms. Mathew issued a series of instructions for various departments to adhere to while work on the metro rail project progresses.

Translocation of trees

The Forest Department was asked to expedite proposals for translocation of trees getting affected across the three routes, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to speed up acquisition of affected properties, the Water Board to provide alternate connection so that work can begin between Tarnaka and Mettuguda and so on.

Hyderabad Metro Rail was asked to immediately deposit Rs.9 crore to the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for the 15 acre site at Raidurg and construct new school building with necessary infrastructure to accommodate three schools of Chaderghat at a site to be indicated by the Hyderabad Collector.

The Chief Secretary also expressed happiness over the fast pace of metro rail works and steps being taken for road widening, covering open drains, etc., a press release said.

Mr. N.V.S.Reddy informed her that 85 piers (pillars), 182 foundations and 269 segments had been completed and that the L&T would further increase the construction speed after COP-11 and the monsoon.
