Title - 150 parcels seized in Excise raid

Ludhiana:
The Excise and Taxation Department today seized 150 consignments coming from other states. Officials of the department conducted a raid at the railway station early this morning following a tip-off information received by it.The consignments were despatched from Delhi and belonged to different parties. "At the time of seizing the goods, they were found without bill. The parcels mostly contained garments. The actual value of the parcels can be known only after verification," said Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner Bhupinder Gupta.Meanwhile the Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Tejbir Sindu, also conducted a raid at a unit located in the Focal Point area. The unit is engaged in the manufacturing of transformers and had been under the department's scanner for VAT evasion for a long time.
