The government has decided to make arrangements for operation of special train and RTC services to Tirupati from different places in the State to facilitate those delegates and others who failed to get reserved accommodation so far, to attend World Telugu Conference (WTC) starting there from December 27. If the railway authorities rule out running special trains due to some reasons, efforts will be made to get at least some extra bogies attached to the existing Tirupati-bound trains. The decision was taken at a meeting here on Monday where Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew reviewed the arrangements being made for the event, responding over the messages received from several people that they failed to get reservation tickets. As per the present calculations, over 10,000 delegates are expected to turn up for the WTC, 1,000 of them from abroad representing different countries and 2,000-3000 from other States within the country.

Registrations: Briefing reporters later, Official Languages Commission chairman Mandali Buddha Prasad, culture director R. V. Prasada Raju, culture advisor K. V. Ramanachary and Endowments Commissioner G. Balaramaiah also announced extension of the last date for registrations, which closed on December 7, up to December 12. As many people complained that they faced difficulty in registering their names through website www.worldteluguconference.com, a decision was taken to allow the registrations through e-Seva centres in the State. Mr Prasad said over 200 monographs on as many subjects would be brought out on the occasion and publication of 30 old monographs revived.

The entire 23-acre vacant land in Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University campus would be converted into a single and compact venue comprising the main auditorium for the main daily conference and several other auditoria to facilitate deliberations of 10 sub-groups. Delegates would be offered free food and accommodation and to and fro fare. The arrangements would be such that “everything, including exhibitions, would be available to visitors within a km radius”.
