If all go well, Itanagar will be connected with Railway by the end of this year as the railway line from Harmoti to Naharlagun is targeted to be completed by December 2012, Sanjay Kanojia, deputy chief engineer of NF Railway informed Governor Gen (Retd.) J J Singh in a review meeting at Raj Bhavan here yesterday. Construction of 20 km railway track out of the 21.76 km new broad gauge line from Harmoti to Naharlagun has already been completed and the railway line will be commissioned along with Rangapara North-North Lakhimpur, Kanojia informed. He further informed that the revised estimate has been sanctioned on September 4 last and work will be implemented accordingly.Land acquisition of 138.7 hectare, 46 minor bridges, 95.6% of rail spreading and sleeper spreading and 91.9 % of track linking are completed. Finishing works of the two stations building are in progress. Out of the 16 major bridges, 10 bridges have been completed and work is in progress in remaining bridges, the Deputy Chief Engineer informed with a help of PowerPoint presentation. Going into the details of the progress report, the Governor advised the railway officials concerned to maintain proper liaison with the State Government and to have good inter-department coordination to expedite the work of the railway project. There should be no hindrance in implementation of project, the Governor said while expressing concern over delay in construction of the major bridges, which is taking considerable time. |
