Ambala : To an embarrassment of the security agencies, some miscreants stole three boxes loaded with Army weaponry from one of the special trains at a railway station in Delhi. The matter came to light during routine checking of the 38-wagon special train loaded with artillery which had set off from Pulgaon Railway Station in Wardha district of Maharashtra for Jalandhar Cantonment.During checking of the train at Ambala, three boxes containing arms and ammunition were found missing.Officers informed the Army Headquarters. A team of three senior Army officers reached Ambala and sought the help of the Government Railway Police Force (GRPF) and the Haryana Police that launched a search operation in and around the Ambala Railway Station lasting more than eight hours. However, it was later learnt that the missing boxes had been found at an isolated place near the railway station in Delhi by the Indrapuri police.

Sources said the train was carrying 523 boxes of weaponry guarded by 23 army personnel. As the train arrived at Ambala Cantt Railway Station at 4:30 am on Saturday morning, the Army carried out a routine check of the wagons and found the locks of the wagon number 71041 broken and three boxes missing.

Local GRPF officials said investigations had been shifted to the national capital where both the Army and GRP officials had started parallel investigations.
