KANPUR: Several trains running on Delhi-Howrah route arrived hours late at Kanpur Central railway station owing to the Firozabad incident where the kin of a girl had kept her body on the railway tracks and blocked the route. This affected a number of trains like Guwahati Rajdhani, Ranchi Rajdhani, Patna Rajdhani, Kolkata Rajdhani, Sealdah Rajdhani, Gomti Express, Mahananda Express, Purshottam Express and Licchavi Express. The passengers remained stranded at Firozabad and Shikhobad. They had to face a tough time. Railway officials informed that the trains had to be halted because the mob started throwing stones at Gomti Express which was coming to Kanpur.

Due to the clash between police and locals in Firozabad, the trains heading towards Kanpur were stopped. Similarly, trains that were to leave Kanpur Central railway station were not allowed to leave. A couple of trains halted at Govindpuri railway station. This was done to reduce the rush at Kanpur Central. A few trains had to be stopped at the outer of the Kanpur Central.

It took nearly four hours to restore the route.

Chanda, who was travelling in New Delhi-Kanpur Shatabdi Express said that her train arrived after 12 midnight due to the Firozabad incident. The train was to reach Kanpur at 9pm.
