Jamia Millia Islamia has complained of step-motherly treatment meted out to them by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, saying that while Delhi University has underground railway, it was Jamia which was to have a metro station cutting right through the lawns of the Vice-Chancellor’s office.Although Vice-Chancellor Najeeb Jung did not confirm that he had complained of such a thing, he confirmed that he had written to the DMRC a few days ago, asking them to desist from constructing the station cutting through his lawn as the station would end up allowing outsiders right inside the faculty buildings which presently followed strict security measures.“The identity cards of all visitors are checked before they can enter any of the buildings, with a metro station in the middle of the university, this would be impossible,” he said.
