Safety of passengers and freight will be our top most priority, followed by focus on punctuality in running trains between stations and maintaining a clean and hygienic environment in both the platforms and coaches said, Ajay Kant Rastogi, Divisional Railway Manager.

Mr. Rastogi, took charge on Wednesday. Later in the day, the outgoing DRM, A.K.Goel, released the Indian Railways Magazine published by the Ministry of Railways, New Delhi which has brought out a special edition with a focus on Madurai Railway Division and performance of its key departments in its July 2012 edition. The first copy was received by Mr. Rastogi, in the presence of Ajith Kumar, ADRM and Kasthuri Bai, Chief Medical Superintendent. The magazine with pictures and articles (pages 49-88) provides an insight into the religious and cultural heritage of Madurai city, historic sites and centres of tourism. The magazine also provides an overall view of the Madurai division, holiday homes in the division, on the engineering department, commercial performance, energy conservation, mechanical department, freight operations, personnel management and Information technology-guided efficiency improvement. The magazine also has interesting articles on inclusive development of railway employees and important places in Madurai.

The new DRM is an Indian Railway Accounts Service holder. Prior to this post, he had worked as Executive Director/ Finance at Railway Research Designs and Standards Organisation, Lucknow.
