A train between Bengaluru and Mangaluru was announced in 2014 by then railway minister but it never took off until now. Kudla express is likely to start from March end however the differnce will be that it will be operated via Shravanabelagola. This move will greatly reduce the distance as well as journey time.

Distance between Bengaluru and Mangaluru is 447 km if calculated via Mengaluru but if train operates from Shravanabelagola, the distance will become 340km which will take maximum 9 hours to complete the journey in place of 12 hours atleast.

Time table published in 2014 for Kudla Express -

16575 Benagluru – Mangaluru

  • Departure time from Bengaluru – 08:30AM
  • Arrival time at Mangaluru – 09:15PM the same day

16576 Mangaluru – Bengaluru

Railway says that to run this train sooner rake availability is a must which currently is not possible. This will take some time as zone concurrence is also required.
