Jolarpet-Hosur rail link a non-starter yet

KRISHNAGIRI: For the people of Krishnagiri district isolated from the mainstream connectivity rail link between Jolarpet and Hosur remains a distant dream. The district headquarters has no rail connectivity barring the network of National Highways connecting Bangalore and other major cities. The present rail link in the district skirts Rayakottai and Hosur to reach Bangalore. To board a train the residents have to travel to Rayakottai, 35 km away.

Realising its importance a feasibility study was undertaken on providing a rail link between Jolarpet and Hosur but it was kept in the cold storage. A project initiated during the period of Narasimhan, Congress MP in 1998, is now gathering dust due to inordinate delay in getting financial sanction and approval from the Ministry of Railways.
